Originally constructed for Expo 86 when Vancouver hosted the World’s Fair, it became the permanent home for Vancouver’s Arts Sciences and Technology Centre in 1987, with Queen Elizabeth dedicating it “for all the people of British Columbia.”

By the time local kids reach the end of elementary school, they’ve visited dozens of times for class field trips. It also provides an afternoon of guaranteed fun for tourists visiting Vancouver with their kids.

It’s no wonder my Science World ornament is a favourite with kids. It makes a great keepsake or souvenir — something they will never outgrow.

Ornament details: The Science World blown-glass Christmas ornament measures 2.5" in diameter by 3.5" tall (6.1cm X 6.1cm X 9.2cm). The ornament has a matt silver geodesic dome dotted with silver glitter to represent the lights, and a cherry-red metallic base.
